Production Management - Made To Stock. Client trying to jump start PM-MTS. They have a laser cutting operation that they cut numerous DIFFERENT parts from the sheet of steel using nesting software. Trying to wrap my head around an operation that will consume the sheet of steel and output the different parts and quantities from one work ticket. Do we set up a phantom assembly that is comprised of the numerous different parts. Create a work ticket to create that assembly but instead of charging all of the different parts to that job, override the inputs and substitute the sheet of steel (or weight equivalent. THEN after closing the work ticket, DISASSEMBLE the phantom assembly into various that comprise the BOM??? As I said, hard to understand the process. Laser cutters have been around for years so one would think other Sage WO users have encountered this situation.  I don't want to reinvent the wheel.  Thanks in advance.

We have a similar situation for a customer in the lumber industry, processing raw material into finished goods of different quality (each quality of output being a different item code).  We converted them from WO to using a spreadsheet to prepare data for BoM production entries (with pro-rated input quantities, plus labor / overhead), but if there is a better way to do this kind of thing using PM we'd be interested in hearing it.
