@PeterWolf not sure if you knew or saw this: YACOV W. STARTS CRM CONSULTING FIRM Yacov Wrocherinsky, who for years ran a top CRM reselling business, has started Orion Global Solutions, whose goal is to help business chose cloud-based CRM packages. Orion's website went live this week and Wrocherinsky posted an article on LinkedIn that the company focuses on Salesforce and ""implements and supports customized, cloud-based CRM solutions for businesses in the real estate, financial services/private equity, and CPG Industries."" Orion is a Certified Salesforce Consulting Partner. From June 1987 through August 2015, Wrocherinsky was CEO of New York, N.Y.-based Infinity Info Systems, which he sold in January 2014. Infinity was a top CRM performer for Microsoft and for several years was one of Sage's Top Five resellers, but that ended when Sage sold off SalesLogix, now Infor CRM. He was the chair of the YPO/WPO Navy SEAL Leadership Under Fire program and utilizes lessons of Navy Seals in business. He has partnered with Rob Roy, president and founder of SOT-G, to offer an executive leadership program based on Navy SEAL Leadership Practices. He also hired Mike Holland as director of cloud advisory services. Holland has been CEO of Management Advisory Systems, a technology consulting firm, since June 1993 and CEO of Dynamics Partner Plus since April 2009

Yes - thanks. Yacov was always a leader in the CRM space and it's interesting to keep abreast of his movements.

Seems like you are making some parallel realizations that the greatest CRM program in the world, be it Sage CRM, Saleslogix etc, is irrelevant in a betamax vs. VHS war. You need to stay on the winning team.

Products don't win by features and benefits alone. They need to be support by Marketing - the 4 Ps - Product, Pricing, Promotion, and Place (ie; distribution channels). Sage CRM is a great product and I believe still has a place - particularly with integrated Sage ERP. Microsoft is doing a better job of fleshing out the 4 Ps for Dynamics CRM Online so I'm hoping the market will be larger and opportunities for growth will be greater. One really interesting thing about Yacov's approach though - this isn't a technology play as some might read in to it. It's a vertical strategy play supported by a particular technology. Yacov made most of his money with Saleslogix with a similar mentality. His approach really proves out that a vertical strategy (when well executed) works.

Yes, and not taking anything away from Yacov, but his vertical was the financial services industry which can only be hugely successful in NYC where he was based.

Yep. And I don't think that takes anything away from him - it actually shows he was shrewd - he picked a vertical that was perfect for his home base location.

I would have worried about him if he was based in NY and picked Oil and Gas as his vertical
