Period/Year End - can someone please give me a concrete example where running Period/Year End in one module writes data to a different module?

To my knowledge, Perod/Year End Processing for any module does not post to any other module. Custom Programming or an Extended Solution may post, such as Multi-Company, but I confirmed with Jon Reiter that the DSD Multi-Company does not automatically post. There are programs, like AP to AR Link which will post between modules, but that program must be run (manually).

See, that's what I thought. But I keep seeing vendors putting out year end newsletters that tell everyone that they HAVE to do the closes in a certain order because of inter-posting, blah, blah, blah. And while it doesn't HURT to do it in a certain order, it just pisses me off that they put out that other untruth.

I have always told people the order because often people forget to post in a module and period end warns them to. Therefore the order of closing guides people from the modules most likely to post into another modules - for example sales order or purchase order - assuming there are unposted transactions. Have clients like this who forget to post? I do.

I thought Sage had published something where you close PO and SO before IM, etc. That is probably what they are parroting.
