2021 Std clinet (and on server) failing on payroll tax calc (and tax update). IT Swears nothing has changed.
Checked Sage, they suggested changing a field in the config file to False, but theirs was already false.
Failure is a 403 Forbidden error.

    What else to check?

    WAG:

Source: Payroll Tax Calc Service firewall settings

Allow access to https://spa.na.sage.com/ on port 443 in firewall settings.

Source: Sage 100 cannot connect to the Sage Payroll Tax service or The SPA Tax Service could not be reached from Sage 100

This is the KB that references changing the field in the config file.

    Questions:

What happens if you try to update tax tables - do you get any odd messages?

Does ABC company let you calc payroll?

She can't update tax tables, either. I had IT turn off the Windows firewall on her workstation, no help, but I'll send him that specific item, just in case.
Curious as to whether doing manual taxes even helps - has anyone tried that when internet is down?  Since you still have to run Tax Calc, just wondering if even doing manual taxes isn't an option.

Sage has a backup plan for making sure that the internet on the Sage site is operational and emergency procedures to ensure quick recovery.

While internet connectivity is required for tax calculation and the downloading of tax updates, Payroll Data Entry tasks can be completed up to that point. An internet connection is needed in order to proceed to tax calculation, check printing, Payroll update, et.

What do I do if my internet goes down and I have Payroll to complete?

I have had her call Sage.  So far, nothing fixed.  They had us update Payroll based on that KB, which I figured wouldn't help because the file already said False, but we did it anyway.  She made Sage stay on the phone the whole time and it hung up in .net, so it was delicious.  ANYWAY, waiting to hear back from IT to SWEAR that the firewall isn't blocking that port, but then Sage will escalate.

What I figured.  Even with manual taxes, she's screwed in this particular situation.

See if the workstation has IBM Security Trusteer Rapport. This is forced by some banking websites, It clobbers Tax Calculation.

    Disable or remove it.
