  • 1.  Payroll Period End Date is Wrong

    Posted 02-01-2021 16:50
A customer running 2019.4 just discovered that when they ran the first semi-monthly payroll this month, the person entered a Period End Date of 01/05/2022 instead of 01/05/2021. Should he reverse that payroll? What could happen if he doesn't?

Are you certain they processed payroll with that date?  I'm asking because it would have prompted that the date is not in the current quarter AND the period starting date would have been wrong - if they changed it, the system would have not prompted again about the ending date being 12 months out.
I'd think that some report may be wrong, yet since the PAY date is correct (is it??) then the Aatrix reports will all be okay.

They say that the pay date was correct. I'll probably have to jump on their system later and see what they did. The payroll user is very smart, which also makes him dangerous. Thanks, @Michelle Taylor.

I'm not sure that the payroll period end date will cause an issue but I did have a client who inadvertently changed their direct deposit effective date to January 2020 by mistake last month.   Even though the quarter was closed it actually posted it to January 2020!

Had to reverse around 300 checks and re-enter them to fix it.  :(

Too bad the date warning does not pick up on those fields.  I inadvertently posted conflicting dates in the demo company on my system.  Exactly what @Karen O'Lane described when she started this thread.  It was very easy to do, unfortunately.  Especially this time of year.  Reason why my Certified Payroll report was not working.

All, I'm reporting back. It only seems to affect the Check History Report with the 'by pay period ending date range' option. You would have to select through 2022 to include that first payroll run. I checked all their reports and spoke with Bob at Sage who checked various tables and believes that it doesn't affect anything else.
