A customer that I upgraded to v2019.2 with PR 2.19.4 is reporting that on the workstations, the payroll check history report takes 10 minutes to generate when the selection criteria is changed to a date range. I have confirmed that when logged onto the server, although it doesn't take 10 minutes, it does take 3 to 4 times longer than if it runs using the default report criteria. The customer has 1,400 employees and 4 years of history. I spoke with Sage and they said 'works as designed'. It would be nice if any of you have a benchmark with a large amount of data that you can share with me. I understand that there are several infrastructure considerations that might cause a variation.

One suggestion - Look for Date field issues in the data file. If there are some invalid characters in the date fields it could increase the reporting time, or cause it to hang up.  We've seen both with other modules. haven't run into the issue in PR yet.

I see the opposite of what you report:

By period for Q4/19 took 21 seconds

By check date for 10/1/19 - 12/31/19 took 12 seconds

All of the selections were default (print check details selected, other print xxx cleared). Only changed the selection criteria between the 2 runs.

    PR_PayrollHistoryDetail has 949,695 records.

Checking for bad dates was a good idea @alan niergarth. Unfortunately, no bad dates here. This customer has 1/3 the number of records that @Eric Lunceford is working with. Thanks for the info! I'll keep evaluating.
