  • 1.  Payroll 2.19 Federal Withholding

    I am upgrading from 2017 to 2019 including payroll to v2.19.  The owner of the company always takes a fixed amount of federal withholding. Is it possible to set up a fixed amount of FWT per paycheck?  If he wants $1000 per check deducted for FWT do I need to determine the percent of gross to calculate it or can I set it at $1000 no matter what the gross amount is?

    Override amounts or percentages are no longer available.  :-(  It's something I always ask about during upgrades when we're viewing the new employee screen, because they need to figure out an alternative.  If they are salaried, it makes it easier - and it will take negatives in the Amount (I can't verify it then calculates correctly, though).

    I always set the number of exemptions really high so the taxes calc at 0 and then do an Add Amount for the amount of taxes they want withheld.
