  • 1.  Parcel Shipping Solution to replace SmartLinc in Sage 100

    I have a client that is stuck on the now defunct Smartlinc.  They heavily utilize the feature that Smartlinc added to the SO window where you can set most parcel shipping options.
    They do this at the time of the order vs the shipping department doing this.

    Starship does not have this feature unless we create 20-30 fields and then map them over to starship.  Even then I believe this will only work if everything is a 1 to 1 mapping.  Its limited in what type of logic you can do when setting the fields when it imports the order into starship.

    We looked at TrueCommerce Pack and Ship and they were not convinced that they would be a good solution.

    Is anyone aware of another product that integrates with Sage 100 for parcel shipments that allows for setting shipment fields on the Sales Order?
    Any work flow or feature that I may be overlooking in Starship?

    I don't know if this is an option - I had a customer use Accellos which I think has been rebranded to High Jump?
    The Accellos option ( which was sold by SWK ) offered a full WMS solution and one part of it was shipping.
    I don't know at all whether this shipping functionality exists but mention it as an FYI

    I do recall that Accellos was complex and made it more difficult to upgrade Sage since we essentially needed to do an Accellos upgrade and a Sage upgrade.

    Why do you need 20-30 UDFs?  Also, please explain what you mean by a one-to-one mapping.  I have done a lot of mapping in StarShip.  One of the most typical is the Sage 100 Ship Via field mapped to the service type in StarShip.  The Ship Via may have 100 different shipping options.  Each of the options can be mapped to a StarShip service type.  So, I'm not sure what you mean by a one to one relationship?

    They basically utilize every parcel shipping option imaginable. Blind, Third Party, Prepaid, residential, etc...
    When you get into the on the fly Prepaid accounts you need address fields to flow over (at least I think).

    If we setup the Sage UDFs to 100% map to starship fields we should be ok.  What I don't believe we can do is setup any type of rules.
    ie PrePaid and ThirdParty accounts go into different areas in Starship we have to also make sure we also use separate fields in a Sage window.  We cant just use 1 shipping account field and a checkbox to say where its going to go.

    If there is no solution that already exists then it just means we have to document every parcel shipping option, how Starship handles it, then design a custom office screen around this so we can easily map the data.  There are going to be certain things that Starship can do for us automatically and certain things we have to map.  Its certainly possible but Id rather go with something proven if its out there.

    There is also the fact that they apparently tried to use Starship previously and they were never able to get it to work.  Its was with a previous reseller so it could have just been their knowledge of the product at the time that caused it to fail.
