Sage 100

A customer who recently had two Citrix servers deployed. Then the external IT company say that they removed Citrix and installed "Parallels". There are some problems that I can't relate to anything in particular. I don't know anything about Parallels. IT says it's just "an overlay". Can anyone share with me anything that you know about it?

@Karen O'Lane - that's what SWK uses for accessing their cloud deployments. It works like RDP, from what I can see - you can connect to the whole desktop, or you can have it JUST run Sage

Our hard rule is to only support platforms directly on the Sage Supported Platform Matrix.  The only RDS solutions listed are Microsoft and Citrix. 

Years ago we wasted a bunch of time troubleshooting a client IT's recommended 3rd party remote app solution... never again.

Although I was never the "technical" guy, i seem to know enough to be dangerous and observe enough to create efficiency.   One of the efficiencies that I eventually insisted upon was avoiding uninstalling and reinstalling of certain components in our virtual environment.   There are times where an install replaces or changes operating system components and when uninstalling leaves a mess behind.   Citrix is "just an overlay" which changes the operating system.  Uninstalling it and installing another overly on top sounds like a really risky proposition.

It is likely too late to go back, but my go-to strategy is performing a clean install and then migrating data.

Thank you all for this feedback. I told the customer that I hadn't heard of Parallels and that it wasn't supported by Sage. The owner googled "parallel" and "sage 100" and got the help page for doing a parallel migration from an earlier version and told me that "Sage knows all about it".
