  • 1.  Parallel Migration 4.50 To V2019

I have a customer that is running live in 2019...all good.
Now they would like to upgrade an old company they have in version 4.50
When I go through the parallel migration, I wont let me bypass the system files....
What can I do to just upgrade that ONE company????
    Any suggestions???? Thanks

Not sure you can do a 'copy the MAS_xxx folder to v2019 from 4.50, but 1 option might be to do a 'on the side' migration from 4.5 to 2019 and then maybe copy the MAS_XXX folder as long as it's a historical company and no payroll.  You would probably lose any paperless logs that might have been created in 4.50.
Was there an interim upgrade and no longer have access to that installation?

Make sure the two systems have the same data dictionary (UDF's / UDT...) then copy in the MAS_### folder, create the company code manually and do company conversion.  This will throw off things like user key (who created SO / posted invoice...) in the copied company, but I don't know of a way to avoid that.
Yes, you'll lose all related system data like Paperless but the folder copy / convert "should" work.

Interesting post.  I had this situation today.  A couple days ago, I migrated most of the client's v2017 companies to v2020.  Today, when fine tuning the paperless logs (moved to new server as well), I realized that I left an archive company behind.  So I created the company and activated the modules.  I renamed the MAS_XXX folder, then copied the v2017 MAS_XXX folder to new installed..  Everything looks great......  except the paperless log is still missing the PDF links.

DFDM'd the log table (PL_JournalPDFLog.M4T) and noted that the key is comprised of the company KEY (0000000001).  I then looked at the sy_company.m4t.  The company KEY 0000000001 was not there and the newly created company code key was 0000000021.

So my question is "what if I rename key 0000000021 to 0000000001 and delete the old key in the company table?????  I am a little hesitant because of the encryption data in record 55.

As they say "no guts, no glory".  Can anyone think of a NO NO NO situation?  Is the encryption key going to interfere?  The migrated data looks fine.  My alternative would be to track down an MD to convert the company KEY reference in PL_JournalPDFLog.M4T?

    Thanks in advance.

I dealt with something similar 5-6 years ago but can't remember if I was struggling with company keys that got messed up or user keys.  I just remember I couldn't recreate the key number I needed and delete the new key that got created because it was stored in more than just the one file.  For some reason the sy_surrogate table comes to mind as the one that was the big problem.  When I look at the one in the ABC company, it's blank and I can't tell from the file layout exactly what it's used for.

Maybe the fact that it's blank means they don't use it like they used to any more.  I don't know.

Interesting  Also the paperless office conversion Utility.  The conversion utility has some verbiage explaining what it does but the migration utility does not.  Found nothing on the KB either.  In testing, it says source file must be at v4.5 or below.   Not sure what I would use it for.
