I hate to use "urgent support" because of the intrusion.  When I read through 90 minds it appears paperless AP Extrended Sub / ACH forms taking 20 seconds each is normal.  I just talked to Sage.  I asked what their benchmark is.  I was told there is not a benchmark.  Depends on the system.  I asked what would you want in an optimal situation.  I am told they troubleshoot 6 seconds per form.  I am limping a client along for 2 days now as they are getting the error -30 repeatedly.  I am told this can be a time out at 30 seconds.  What is normal and is there a list of things to help.  I am currently nursing along the process at their server and am seeing stuff pop up on the server that are system and antivirus related eating up 60% of their server for 2 minutes here and there.  IT's suggestion.... get rid of that old Sage 100 software.

Have you/they tried running the extended stub report from the Sage Server itself to see how long it takes?  My guess is it would go significantly faster. Given AV tasks are using up server resources, it doesn't sound like the Sage program is getting excluded from the AV Active Scans. Make sure you send them the list of AV and Firewall exclusions and apply those exclusions to both Server and Workstation.  Also make sure Windows Defender is completely turned off if there's 3rd party AV software present.

Does anything else run really slowly? Seems to me like Sage in general would run very slowly if the above is true.  Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the PDF Converter? Doesn't sound like that's the issue though if the emails are still being sent out.   A normal amount of time to me would be 2-3 seconds per email and maybe upwards of 4-5 depending on the size of the document.

This is when running from the server.  IT insists excluded.  Antivirus can be doing other things.  Was just told system processes can take 60% and it is what it is and it shoudl go away in a few minutes.  Also had at least one time out do to another producing a register to paperless.

Have you tried right clicking on the Sage Icon and selected Run as Administrator?  If you uninstall/reinstall the PDF Converter, Launch Sage using Run as Admin to see if that bypasses a few permissions issues.

    Other ideas:
Review KB IDs 19434 and 30079
    Restart the Print Spooler
Try printing to a different printer
In the Crystal Reports, make sure the Perform Groupoing on Server and Use Indexes or Server for speed are checked
Also in Crystal, make sure the No Printer checkbox is checked
Uncheck the box in Printers and Scanners that says "Let Windows Manage my Default Printer
Set the default printer to something other than Microsoft XPS Document Writer
    Reboot the server
If Sage Standard, make sure the workstation is installed from mapped drive, and for Advanced/Premium from a UNC Path.
    Turn off PEP
If it's a Virtual Server, check out KB IDs 71232, 76519 and 52005
Do they use StarShip?  See KB ID 112181
Had a customer recently who was having issues getting kicked out of Sage. Determined her NIC hasn't been updated for a very long time. They installed new drivers and she hasn't had an issue since. Probably good to do on server and workstations.

I am also seeing other users paperless documents appearing to create enough of a delay to create the timeout on the form porduction and error.  Starting back where we left off.

What version of Sage is in play here?  Can you install the latest PDF driver?  Are you emailing the forms or just creating them?

2021 Standard.  Running 6.0.4.1 of Paperless on a VDI workstation.  6.0.1.1 is running on the server that I used as a work around and I should have fixed that first.  Still an issue though.

@Larry Bradford I had a similar problem with a large client (read - large IT presence and lot's of restrictions). After much troubleshooting, it turned out to be a conflict between Symantec A/V and Carbon Black (VM Ware's malware solution). They had left Symantec installed after installing the new Carbon Black solution and the two didn't play well together. Once they removed Symantec and did some tuning on Carbon Black (not sure exactly what IT did)  PDF generation was back to normal.
