here's an odd one! Sage 100 Advanced version 2020 PU1. Users get the error  "unable to process Lock File" (screen shot below) when updating the Daily Transaction Register after updating the inventory Transaction Register. the exact steps are: User updates the inventory transaction register and the PDF of the register is created just fine in Paperless office. BUT when they print the DTR it produces "unable to process Lockfile". I had the user repeat those steps three times while I watched.  Each time the inventory transaction register PDF was created through Paperless Office but the Daily Transaction Register pops the error..

Once the error happens, we reinstall the PDF converter using File >Run> PL_AdvancedOptions_UI and that it fixes the problem for a "while" IAW the problem is immediately fixed. no reboot or anything needed after uninstall/reinstall of the converter. This last time the user went several weeks before the message came back.

What could be different about creating the DTR from the other register. Both documents are saved in the same paperless office folder and everyone has Full Control of that directory

There is another user that this happens to also but she is a super-user and just reinstalls the converter herself whenever it happens so I don't have any troubleshooting steps with that user. .

I would try the regedit thing from the Paperless Office Converter that used to be a fix a few years ago.

Set permissions for the following keys in the Registry (at the workstation level):
    1. Click the Start button
    2. Click Run, and enter Regedit
    3. Access: "HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software"
    4. Right-click Software key
    5. Select Permissions
    6. Select Full Control for Users listed in this box, and then click Apply

Thanks Jim each time we reinstall we do the following

    ·         We set the permissions on the Sage PDF converter itself So everyone and All Applications have full control

    ·         Change the port to a port called SAGE (instead of the NULL port that defaults

    ·         Go into regedit and set the permissions there as well. They have the newer printer drivers so we are editing it in the new HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE.

Let me know if I missed anything here or shouldn't be doing any of the above

Unfortunately there now are a bunch of different causes/solutions which are scattered across old/new kb.

One thing that seems to work for me is to check for stray lock files left behind in the registry. I also make sure the users have full permissions.

    1. Open Registry Editor:
    2. From the Windows Desktop, Start button / Run (or Search Programs and Features) / REGEDIT
    3. Under "HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\Sage 100 PDF Converter" (formerly Sage PDF Converter), if either of the following folders (keys) exist, right-click each such folder (key), then select Delete:
    4. Jobs
    5. Locks
    6. Go to File, Exit to close out of the Registry Editor

If they are printing from a remote desktop environment then you should be looking on the remote desktop registry

Both workstations are local area network Windows 10 computers.

On the machine that I was logged into, I checked and there was no Lockfile or jobs folder in the registry.

Am I correct that the new location in the registry is Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sage 100 PDF Converter? that is where I found the Sage 100 PDF Converter. I did check the old location to make sure they didn't also exist there.

If paperless still does not work  I found that if you remove the Sage PDF Converter from printers. Then remove all Ayumini drivers. Then install paperless through PL_Advancedoptions.ui.

You may find 2 versions of Ayumini drivers 500 and 600 and that is what causes the problem.

    Thanks

Just an update to this. the client called again today with the error so I finally had a chance to try this.

    ·         I logged into Sage 100 as administrator and uninstalled the Sage 100 PDF Converter from PL_AdvancedOptions_UI

    ·         I immediately went to devices and printers and confirmed the Sage 100 PDF Converter was gone.

    ·         I then went to control panel > administrative tools > Print manager

o   There were no Amyuni printer drivers at all

    ·         Ran PL_AdvancedOptions_UI and installed the Sage 100 PDF Converter.

    ·         In control panel > administrative tools > Print manager

o   I only see one Amyuni printer driver – it was the 600 version

    ·         I then went through my normal steps of setting security on the printer and in Regedit.

Since I didn't see 2 different Amyuni drivers, I don't think this helped but we will wait another week or two and see.
