Package Tracking

  • 1.  Package Tracking

When the client clicks the package tracking button off the invoice history screen it is going to SageSoftwareOnline.com/services.asp and returning an error 404.

As I perceive the solution it is a connected solution to Sage and they manage how that information is forwarded.  Is this understanding accurate.  Any way to check to see if it is being managed by Sage?  Any way for us to help manage this for the client?

Wouldn't it be great if there was some communication from Sage when this was an issue.  Sage support nor any of his cohorts could tell me if it is working and would have to get back to me.

We wasted over a full day of our time (plus ScanForce assisting, not to mention customer being impacted) while troubleshooting an issue that:
    1. Was a known issue with a KB article (hidden because of the poor search engine).
    2. Had a hotfix, not linked by that KB article until I complained.
We need an RSS feed or something to show us new / updated KB articles.  If I knew there was a documented issue, I'd go straight there, not wasting time trying to eliminate enhancements / scripts as a root cause.

No... sorry for off topic rant.  (Sage's poor technical communication is a pet peeve... trigger).
Taxes were disappearing from invoices when edited in shipping data entry (although we didn't know that until weeks of effort).  Intermittent, they use ScanForce, DSD multi-currency, and have a ton of scripts.  When we tried to reproduce, it worked, so we knew calling Sage would go nowhere.  We set up an alert, SF helped test re-importing the same file... after weeks, the user finally clued in that it was happening when she was entering tracking #'s in Shipping entry (only done for a specific rare carrier... otherwise tracking #'s are imported).  Once I reproduced the problem on an unmodified system, I searched with new the information and found KB article.

This is the hidden gotcha for having a number of integrations on your system. Until you can reproduce an issue there's nothing most will do to help. And if you don't reproduce it on your own then support for one blames the other for the issue. I'm in the midst of something similar with an issue where Sales Order History header is not having a value written for total taxable / total non-taxable.

It's not easy to update some third-party solutions for testing. Much of this has to happen after-hours so you don't interrupt shipping, etc,

Throw into the mix a customer who is "too busy" to devote significant time to debug. Then they let it slip for six ( or more ) months until they call one day screaming that you never fixed their issue and Sage is terrible and they're so unhappy.

What's the KB#?  I have customers complaining.  I would like to send them a pdf of the KB.

We are seeing the same thing, couple of clients emailed in about it.  I believe the request is getting forwarded over to this sagesoftwareonline.com/services.asp, it doesn't start with that path when the browser first opens.  It starts with http://services.bestsoftwareinc.com/services.asp?sid=8&regid=&trackingid="WHAT EVER THE TRACKING NUMBER IS"

Now that all legacy modules have been dealt with for the framework, perhaps the bloodhounds will start sniffing out other ancient code and update those........

I opened one on Monday, got a reply yesterday from William that they were looking into it. I asked him to make sure not to close my case until it was resolved and I was notified.
