  • 1.  OVERDIST tiers

    Here's an FYI or a rant ... take your pick

    Did you know that if you create an invoice (or production entry or anything that might draw down a costing tier) and there is no existing costing tier to pull from, that an OVERDIST layer will be created ... even during a preview of the journal.  I assumed after doing this for 27 years, that the layer was only created during an update.  But according to Sage, Scanco, and my testing today, the OVERDIST layer is created during a preview, even if you choose not to update the journal.

    So when I heard today that the function was WAD, I said .. and probably out loud WTF

    So it creates a tier of say -5, but never becomes final.  Is your on hand amount now OOB with the tiers??  Here I preach heavily to the client that overdist tiers represent timing issues and they need to review their SOP's to prevent this.  Maybe we should preach to Sage about this!!!!

    It creates an OVERDIST tier with 0 quantity, but the tier just sits there.
