Oracle buys Micros for 5.3 Billion Oracle Acquires Micros Systems in Billion Dollar Buyout Oracle dropped a bomb on the POS industry, this week, when it announced that it will acquire Micros Systems a provider of integrated software and hardware solutions to the hospitality and retail industries for approximately $5.3 billion. Does this signal a trend of business intelligence companies scooping up point of sale software and hardware companies?

I think companies will scoop up anything that they think will generate recurring revenue for them.

I don't think of ORacle as a BI company. They are an ERP company similar (but larger) than Sage or SAP. Puts them in direct competition with Epicor who is very big in Retail
