  • 1.  One user can't Paperless unless I uncheck "Use Lockfile"

    Sage 100 2019 Advanced - I've used PL_AdvancedOptions_UI to install/uninstall the PDF, checked permissions on the registry for the local machine.

    One user cannot access paperless  - they get 

    The PDF document was not created successfully

    If I go in and uncheck "Use Lockfile" then this user now can access paperless


    However, this company is processing payroll in 4 different companies using paperless forms delivery for direct deposit stubs. I'm exceptionally hesitant to remove this lockfile checkmark in fear that suddenly I get a call that other users are receiving the wrong direct deposit stubs.


    Any idea why one user would need to have "use lockfile" unchecked while others would not? 

    I'm sure it's probably permissions related however I don't see any Sage guidance on where to review or change anything.

    One of the many paperless documents (still pertaining mostly to Win 7, I think) mentioned modifying rights to the Registry entries.  Since that's where the lockfile business goes, I'm guessing that.

    When you say you checked the registry permissions, does the user have full control over where the Jobs and Locks are stored, and the Sage 100 PDF Converter parent folder?

    I've checked all permissions and uninstalled/reinstalled the PDF through PL_AdvancedOptions_UI multiple times

    It appears this may be a deeper permissions/IT or even a corrupt registry related issue as the customer advises "IT was here 3 hours rebuilding the profile" due to a scanner not working ( I also looked at all printers to ensure they were online and available ). I wouldn't rule out this scanner driver/printer/etc being a contributor.

    when I got to test print/create the PDF through PL_AdvancedOptions_UI it opens a dialog box asking for a file name and location to save presumably the test PDF to.

    1.5 hours in the customer threw in the towel and said "Have to get back to work"

    I advised before I can open a case I have to go through a laundry list of possible permissions uninstall/reinstall because Sage is going to ask about it as well.

    I did not remove the "use lockfile" since I would consider that a "customer loser" if I advised that they just not use the lockfile and suddenly the owner's direct deposit PDF went to one fo the employees during paperless email ....

    Perhaps check the version of the Amyuni print driver.  I've seen a version in Windows Update that caused problems.

    Update: Customer's controller called moments ago - despite not being able to test print the pdf through PL_AdvancedOptions_UI -- it appears that changing the DEFAULT printer on the workstation to the same one in use by other users ( who are successfully using paperless ) worked.

    Note that the "old" default printer was online and would print a test page

    There's apparently some issue with the old printer - possibly some type of permissions for that user.

    The PDF converter seems to use the Default printer for page dimensions, which might explain it.  (We see this when the user has a Label printer as default, and the Paperless PDFs have useless output).
