One of our existing 90 Minds members who asked not to be named because it's not official yet is considering taking a position with Oasis and wants to know if they could transfer their membership. I have no problem with it but told them I'd have to check and our position is that they'd go through a regular approval process.

Robert - really? This is a surprise. Jokes aside, I don't see a problem with that move. We aren't a press gang forcing people into joining or staying. It does call into question the purpose of OASIS. Some of us say we want contributors or get out. Others say it's ok to be a lurker. I would imagine if someone is dropping down from 90 Minds to OASIS, it's either a realization of lower participation or they don't see the value for the $$$. I have a hard time believing the latter though.

Wait! Is it someone changing over to OASIS or someone taking a job with Oasis the reseller? Either way I don't have a problem. The question becomes if 90 Minds is for the firm and not just the person, does the whole firm then become 90 Minds?

I'm confused - What do you mean ""considering taking a position with OASIS""? Are they leaving their employer and going independent? Or as Peter says, they want to drop down to the lower level?

I think it is more of an issue that oasis as a company isn't a 90mind member and this individual was. My take is that it just need to be approved by the 90minds admin team and it is ok..

I see... the person is joining the company called Oasis and they want to know if Oasis can now be a full 90 Minds member. I wonder what happens to their current company's membership in 90 Minds and will it cause bad feelings / geographic problems? Or maybe their company is merging with Oasis or something similar? Head spinning...

Yes they're joining the Oasis company -- sorry should have been clearer. I don't know if there's any conflict with Oasis company and any other member regarding geography. Increasingly I think the real competition is Sage -- at least short term.
