  • 1.  On-site timeclocks with job info

    Client using Job Cost is facing a huge (read expensive) update to their timeclock system (they have 8 in-house) and looking for alternatives.  They build boats, so being able to login via the web is NOT something they are looking for. Anyone have any alternatives they could look at?

    We discussed it, but the place gets pretty dirty and they currently use 8 timeclocks, so she wasn't really keen on that idea.

    I researched Sage Time and Attendance a few years ago.  The advertising seems promising.

    @Beth Bowers - Please let us know what you find regarding ST&A compared to iSolved.

    The last time we did research on this was ~5 years ago. I came away with these conclusions:

    • Timeclocks market is niche. Far from a commodity, so significant price differences are rare.
    • The technology within the clocks is tricky to get accurate, once you get beyond badging.
    • Badging, of course, is unreliable for clock in/out because  some employees "help" others.
    • The technology used in clocks 15 yrs ago is quite different from today's. This is probably the reason for your customer's sticker shock on upgrade. Also, check references on reliability of equipment.
    •  The software might or might not have the options your customer wants. Be sure to check it. 
    • Firms like iSolved are can use their clocks to sweeten the deal for their HRMS software, which is their main business (remember, its a niche). 

      I hope this helps you with your customer.
