Okay...weird one at a customer site that has been

Okay...weird one at a customer site that has been going on for quite a while. All items are valuation of Lot, using landed cost to allocate freight. However on some items (not all) the allocated cost is different in the Item Cost table then what it was on the Item Transaction (receipt of goods) for the same Lot receipt. This is also not happening on all transactions. I have attached one example of it. Any ideas what is causing this and how I can prevent it from continuing to happen? This is MAS 4.4.0.8 right now. It was happening ever since probably 4.4.0.3 or 4.4.0.4.

Is it always the cost detail that is incorrect? When it happens is it allocating landed cost to all the items on the receipt? Could it be that some items are not checked for landed cost? I assume the item cost is correct which is the same on both the transaction and cost files. I would check the receipt of goods register to see if you can see something that stands out there.

Do they have multi bin? If they do, that might be the culprit.

I've had odd issues with the IM_DataEntryCostCalcCommit file not clearing when registers/journals are updated. Caused me a few headaches in 4.4 to 4.5 migrations. Is is possible that this file has records for the same items in it as the ones you are currently posting and the system isn't picking up the right one to use? Take a look through DFDM after all in process transactions affecting inventory are updated and see if this file still has lingering records.

Thank you Roberta and Moira. I am going to take a look at the ROG registers for some of those items to see if landed cost is allocated properly there. And yes it it the cost detail that is incorrect, the item transaction history is always correct. The landed cost allocation is always correct when I look at the item transaction history. I will also take a look at the IM_DataEntryCostCalcCommit file, I forgot about that little bugger. Roberta, they actually do have ACSG's Multibin mod (we moved them away from HT Multibin last spring). How would that affect the allocated cost? I didn't think that touched the Item Cost table.

Update. I looked at ROG registers and the allocated landed cost by line item was correct (the same as it appeared in item transaction history), I also checked the IM_DataEntryCostCalcCommit file after all PO and SO batches were posted and the data file was empty. So does that lead me back to an issue in Multi-bin mod? Something is happening during the posting process when it is writing to the ItemCost table and it seems to be scrambling the allocated cost somehow. Any other suggestions?

Based on the evidence presented, I think it is time to call Ron...........

Email or call Ron. He's usually quick with a response.

Thanks...I emailed all the gory details over to Ron. Just waiting to hear back from him. I will report back once I know something.

Has Ron changed his ways? Back in 2003, he did everything in the book to not take ownership of his problems. I almost lost a client due to problems with multi-bin.

Jeff, I hope that is not the case. So far we have had good luck with him. Anytime we came across on issue in the past year he has been quick to address it. We switched from Hightower's Multibin a year ago because of huge problems with their 4.4 version of Multibin.

I understand that he has seen the light over the past five years. In 2003, we had a conversation that didn't require a phone connection. Too many bugs, not and no one stepping to the plate taking ownership......

Jeff...may I ask...did you stay with his Multibin or go with another vendor?

Hung in there for a while. It worked (v3.71) but it definitely had its quirks which (IMHO) could have easily been remedied (just as Sage could). Client then wanted a warehouse management system so I approached Ron to determine interest. He said he worked with Scanco quite a bit and he would spear head a project proposal. Two weeks turned into two plus months. I kept calling and he kept putting me off. So I approached Radio Beacon regarding their warehouse management system. They came in, did a demonstration and ultimately inked a deal worth in excess of $250K (software and hardware). Still using it today. In hindsight, Ron did me a favor by blowing me off. I can only image the headach of dealing with Scanco. Now if only ASCG, VB and Scanforce would join marketing and tech forces to offer us a single point of contact so we could market their solutions as one...................................

@JeffSchwenk I wouldn't go so far as to say he's changed his ways, but he has seen the light and is getting better.

Ugh...well he said ""his program does not touch IM_ItemCost table"" and he pushed it back as a Sage issue. ARGH! I guess I spoke too soon. Gonna try SU9 and see if that makes any difference. Also may try the new inventory utilities in a test company with their data.
