Customer decided to upgrade their Loftware software (it's printing labels & pulling some Sage 100 CI_Item data in through a 32 bit ODBC connection).  Ever since the upgrade when trying to print any label they are getting:

(M1144) Error from ODBC (opening recordset2): ODBC static cursors required for snapshot support.

Has anybody come across that error before?  It would appear that Loftware made some sort of change related to how they are processing ODBC connections that has negatively impacted how it used to connect to Sage 100 data.

    Thanks!

Did they create a new ODBC or are they using the sotamas one?  Can you access Sage via Excel using their ODBC connection?  Any chance their new software is using the 64 bit driver and the sotamas 64 bit is NOT installed on the workstation?  Did you reinstall the Sage client?

You could enable debug on the Debug tab of the ODBC control panel and review that log file for clues. (don't forget to turn it off)

They are using a silent 32 bit system ODBC connection that tests successfully.  We have also tried installing the 64-Bit ODBC driver, no luck.

Haven't tried reinstalling the Sage client yet, that's a good suggestion will try that tomorrow.

Also thanks for the suggestion about turning on the ODBC debug, will try that as well.

    Thanks!

I have seen strange behavior with ODBC connections from Excel failing because of Trend Micro heuristics settings. Maybe try disabling A/V?

@Todd Martin had a post a year so back on this.  Very enlightening!  If Excel queries aren't failing on SAME odbc connection, it is probably something else though.

yeah the issue with Trend is that it crashed the application when it killed the task. It killed it because it was seen as being a threat. This doesn't appear to be the same as what I saw with Excel and Trend. It could still be blocking the connection. Looking at the error it appears to be a configuration or function that is not available or setup. I would confirm that other applications can use the ODBC without an issue. What you might have to do, if it is a functionality issue with the provideX driver (doing the snapshot function), you might do Jeff's favorite thing and create an Access Link table and use the Access ODBC connection.
