Obamacare..... Got this from a client who wants to discuss it's impact on Sage 100 Payroll. Thought I would pass it along.

You don't want to know...

Unfortunately Obamacare has stopped my clients in the medical device sector from making any expenditures on systems, because they expect the 2.3% tax on their products to start next year. Guess who they're voting for.

Well, on the other side of the coin, Obamacare is allowing us to carry our 23 year old daughter who is in grad school on my wife's insurance plan. We are in the final stages of pre approval for surgery that could cost up to $50K out of pocket without insurance. Guess who we are voting for? It really depends on what part of the elephant you are stuck with.

I'm not agreeing with my client - they're on 4.05 and won't upgrade. I'm sure they would find that the efficiencies of 4.5 would offset that little tax. Of course, they're also off of maintenance, so that's a huge Sage tax.

<rant>If a business owner is going to make personnel decisions based entirely on employee health care, then why isn't he or she out campaigning for a single payer system? It takes all of the admin, paperwork and costs away from the business and puts it in one central place (doesn't Wall Street think that's a good idea for every other industry?), there doesn't need to be money spent on verification and enforcement, and you can be Scrooge all you want and your employees can still get health care.</rant>
