Not sure if I'm missing something. Is there no way to email a Quote without going thru the Paperless setup in Customer Maintenance first? Sales Reps want to enter a quote, enter the email address in S/O and simply email that quote. Don't want or need to setup the Paperless options in customer maintenance. I know you can export, save, attach etc., but is there no way to use Electronic Delivery for simple emailing of a form? Thanks.

This is multiple steps but it might work. Preview the Quote, go to Export in the top left corner of the Crystal form, under Format, choose Adobe PDF, under Destination, choose Application, Ok, and OK. You will then have a PDF file that you can email from PDF under File, Send. If by chance you see MAPI under Destination, choose that to email.

Do you want a standard email message or be able to customize each time??? You could set up a generic quote customer number for quoting. Set up the paperless options to use the email address from the SO, NOT the customer. Change the address information on tab two. E-mail via paperless delivery. If the quote is accepted, set up a new customer number, pull up the quote in SO entry, change the customer # to the new account, answer no to updating the pricing based on the new customer.

@JaneCavanaugh thanks but I think it may just be easier to setup the customer on paperless at that point. Too many clicks and the idea was to be able to send a quick quote while the customer is on the phone. @JeffSchwenk, they track quote conversion to order very closely and need each quote to be uniquely identified., but a great idea. I don't understand why Paperless needs to be setup before you can send an email. Every other program I use you click on ""Email"" and as long as you have an email address, you can send one..

Unfortunately, after nearly 16 years of trying to figure out Sage's strategy and programing logic (dare I say WAD?), I have stopped trying to figure them out. Like a fighter, you learn to bob and weave to deflect everything they throw at you. Submit it on the Idea website, chew on Diane Coffman's or bring your client's to Summit so Sage can meet some REAL users.

You could do a script that will automatically flag that customer to do paperless - use email on data entry then reset the flag back after printing. I had someone do that for me.

Or print to pdf and attach to a personalized e-mail.

What about Sage Alerts and Workflow. Perhaps create a field to flag a quote to be emailed? This would not be my first choice since it is not ""on demand"" -- ie customer might ask ""can you fax that to me right away"" and Sage Alerts polls periodically. Or you could look for a PDF driver that doesn't conflict with Amyuni and also will create a PDF and prompt for email. The problem here (or maybe not) is you'd likely have to print only one document at a time as I don't think the PDF driver would do anything except bundle up everything that came from the printer and send it as a PDF attachment which is a problem for multiple quotes.

Thank you everyone, all great suggestions. I will update once a final decision is reached. @DianeRuth your script is probably as close to the solution as I need to be. Doesn't even have to go back and reset the flag back, it can stay on. Is that something we could purchase? I'd hate to reinvent the wheel if the script is already tested and working.

+1 for Sage Alerts and Workflow. Our customers use a UDF_EMail checkbox to filter which ones to email. We've got the process checking every 5 minutes and that seems to be quick enough follow up for them.
