Not really a support question but... Does anyone have a document that shows the difference between Sage 50 and Sage 100?

I wonder if Sage would shoot the person who created the document. The way it was always explained to me is that there was a specific function that caused someone to move. In the old days it was stuff like inventory valuation by warehouse. Perhaps @BobKohlmeyer might have a good list as he does a lot of 50-100 migrations.

I don't have a document, but I sell/support both. To me, Sage 100's superiority always boils down to these three big things: Customization: Sage 50 allows a limited number of custom fields and only on lists, not transactions, really, while Sage 100's can be at the transaction level and can be passed through to other tables. Integration: Sage 50's integration has no data verification and fails easily, sometimes half-way done. Robust GL, including divisions: Sage 50 lets you define GL account segments but doesn't go much beyond that, and has no posting by division as Sage 100 does. Minor things: Sage 100 is concurrent licensing Sage 50 is crash prone Sage 50 slows when it gets full Sage 50 has to be put in single user mode to carry out many tasks, whereas Sage 100 allows you to keep working in one module while closing another, for instance. Sage 100 works well in a T/S environment

One I run into is the table size limitation in Sage 50. I have encountered Sage 50 users that have to continually purge their history tables to keep the software from being slow and crash prone. Unfortunately, when Sage 50 users see the price tag, they suck it up and keep purging the tables.

I don't have a written list, but probably should as we do migrate a number of Sage 50 users to Sage 100 each year. In addition to the general size and stability issues mentioned, there are a number of benefits in the distribution and manufacturing area which is what we specialize in. I will get a list posted later today or tomorrow. I'm about to give demo of Sage 100 , who happens to be a manufacturer who has outgrown Sage 50. Good timing.

All great points! Thank you! I'm surprised Sage doesn't have a document to get users to upgrade.

Even in the days when Sage was selling new user (not win-back) deals hand over fist they were light on any type comparison documents. I think part of the issue is/was that as soon as a new version is released the comparison is out-of-date.
