Non-renewal

Have a client switching to QB next year.  I thought we'd had discussions of what happens on non-renewal, but darned if I can find them.  Yes, I'm that "Let me Google that for you" person.

I just want to make sure they would still get their 45 days to finish up after their last monthly payment.

I don't know how many days it is but I have one customer who didn't renew their Sage 100 subscription and they receive a grace period pop-up. When I looked it was displaying 34 days left in the grace period. Perhaps that period is 45 days? I don't know if it goes into read-only at the end of that time.

@Wayne Schulz - that's good enough for me.  I don't care what happens to it after the 45 days - if it still works, yay for them, but I will tell her to expect 45 days and plan for that.

    THANK YOU!

Well, LOL - that was just as I thought.  We all want to know and no one has a definitive answer.  This client will want to be able to print financials for a while, but no data entry...

    Hi Beth

To the best of my knowledge the product is still usable, only inquiry only.  I think once they stop paying on Sage 100cloud, it depends on their subscription expiration date - even if monthly there is the exp date - and after the exp date, it would become read-only.

However, i am talking with Rob Larsh tomorrow about something else and i will ask him as well.

To confirm what others are saying, I asked that same question (client also switching to QB) and was told 45 days, after which the software will go to archive mode; read only, no new data can be entered indefinitely.

    Hi Beth

Spoke with Rob and he confirmed that the product becomes read-only and he thinks the threshold is 45 days.  He confirmed that any install of Sage 100cloud must be connected to the Internet to speak to the Sage servers.

One caveat, however, is he was not 100 percent sure and he said Brian.Wall@sage.com might be a person who knows.

Beware the above may not apply to Payroll.

We had a customer let payroll lapse and no access was allowed. Since then, we have suggested keeping the minimum tier for access.

This was legacy payroll (2017.4) and and may have changed with 2.x.

Have them switch to the "convenient" monthly pay plan and then shut it down whenever.......

Well, then there you go.  And when they start longing for the days of your prompt response and ability to fix their mistakes, they will return to the fold.

Don't you still have to commit to paying for a year, even if you're paying monthly?  Seems like I saw that in the contract somewhere...that even though they're billing monthly, you are signing that you'll pay for a full year...

The recent renewa invoices that customers send me say that a customer can cancel and receive a refund with 30 days notice.

I noticed there is a Nov 2020 Sage KB entry on this topic

Will Sage 100 data be accessible after a Sage 100 subscription expires?

Sage 100 allows a 45 day grace period with full access to data once a subscription expires.

Customers will receive a message informing them the subscription has expired and display how long they can continue accessing Sage 100 with full access.
During this time, the Customer may contact Sales and renew their subscription if the expiration was unintentional.

After the 45 day grace period, Sage 100 will only have Read-Only access to data
Customers can still open Sage 100, which will display a message that the Sage 100 subscription has expired, and view existing data but it will no longer have the ability to make changes to the data or enter new transactions

Reports will run since reports are simply reading existing data

Maintenance screens will still be accessible, but the fields will be display-only, similar to Inquiry screens

Visual Integrator Import Jobs will be accessible to view, but the fields will be disabled and the buttons to execute the Import Job will not be displayed
