#news #roadmap The Sage ERP MAS 90 and 200 Road Map dated September 2011 is now available (see attached). From what I can see the biggest news is Sage Payroll is back on the map (or maybe it always was) for late 2013. I assume this is the common payroll that Sage previously discussed. Everything else seems to be mostly connected services. Not much in terms of R&D here.

The common payroll is Accpac payroll but it cannot be used in the typical integrated fashion that we have had for years at Accpac. (I am sure it will be even more challenging with MAS as transactions will have to be moved from one database into the accounting database for GL at a minimum. Sage Payroll was Accpac Payroll. The Accpac Payroll team has moved from Richmond to the US and I believe that all support and development now resides in the FL office. I have worked with several ABRA partners to help them configure or understand the configuration of the payroll module. Their largest frustration is you basically have to setup the Accpac SM, GL, BK, and TX modules before you can setup the PR module. This is true even is you are running ABRA PR standalone or integrated with one of Sage's many accounting solutions. Suggestions... sign up for full Accpac trainging for the Financial Suite and take the class prior to attempting an Sage Payroll deployment... or call an Accpac business partner.

You wrote ""see attached"" but there's nothing attached, unless somehow I cannot see it.

I thought the common solution was going to be based on Abra. I could be very wrong.

Yes, the Sage Payroll is a hybrid of Abra HR components and Accpac Payroll. We went through training for Abra HRMS and US Payroll a few months ago. Once you understand how to sync the two, it's fairly straightforward. A little quirky is that the HR data and the Payroll data are stored in two separate SQL databases. Hence the need to sync them. We're working our way through 3 new Abra projects now. They will all go live Jan 1. If you have 3.7x SQL folks who are using MAS payroll, we've been able to get Sage to give them Abra HR and Payroll at no cost. They just need to start paying the maintenance.

I'll go out on a limb and predict not many MAS users will upgrade to Sage common payroll (whatever it's called). Most of my users are on Payroll because they've been for a while, it's relatively painless, inexpensive and they have someone full time who is managing/entering data. I don't see many of my customers looking at something more complex for payroll. This also seems to imply that for almost two years SQL will not have a payroll solution.
