  • 1.  New Tab in Customer Maintenance - Cert Capture

    Client with Avalara AvaTax recently upgraded from v2021 to v2023.  In Customer Maintenance, we are now seeing a new "TAB" called Cert Capture.  It has a large box where I presume data can be displayed, and a button on the bottom labeled "CertCapture Login".  However, the tab is not active, we can't click on it.  I'm not even sure what it is for or how the client can even use this new tab.  DSD Documentation does not have any reference to this newly added Tab.  Nothing has changed in their documentation to call out this new tab. 

    Does anyone know what this is for? How it is used?

    Check the latest DSD AVATAX connector manual here.

    I believe DSD / Avalara added Certcapture integration in v2021 of their connector. I'm not certain why it wouldn't be showing in your customer's Sage 100 2021 other than my personal experience is that the connector tends to be updated frequently so perhaps the customer was a few revisions behind the Certcapture functionality being added.

    I believe the CertCapture tab was added to Customer Maintenance in Sage 100 to allow users to both upload and download exemption certificates. Prior to this, users had to manually upload exemption certificates to Avalara. With the enhancement, users can now synchronize certificates added on the Avalara website directly from the Sage 100 customer maintenance panel.

    Well, that is 100% more helpful than the support ticket to DSD how pointed me to the install module and to open a ticket with Avalara. THANK YOU Wayne.  I think they did not have this in v2021, because they has a "custom tab" there in that position, and it must not have "merged correctly" back then.  Your The BEST!

    CertCapture is the old name for what is now ECM (Exemption Certificate Management).  The link to the discontinued CertCapture portal does not work.  If your client does not store Certificates in Avalara, or does not want to manage/sync them in Sage, you can disable it in LM/Setup/AvaTax Configuration Options.
    As to the panel behaviors, it may require DSD to assist.  However, Avalara is still the front line support for the connector.  Should you need support, you will need to open a Case with Avalara, wait for a few days for one to be acknowledged, go through several email exchanges with an offshore support team, possibly a Zoom call, and then have the Case referred to DSD who will then work with you.  Enjoy the ride! 
    I've been politely encouraging Sage/Avalara to update the connector for well over a year since ECM replaced CertCapture, in addition to bug fixes and necessary enhancements.  It seems motivation is lacking from either party.

    Hi, Madeline.
    Encountered the same issue upgrading from v2019 to v2024 in Customer Maintenance.  CertCapture tab was not present in old version.  In new version CertCapture tab replaced what should be the InstaDocs tab.  Cllient does not  CertCapture enabled in Avatax Configuration Options.

    Any thoughts on how to get Instadocs Tab back where it needs to be?

    A reinstall of Instadocs AR and SO did the trick.  Would the order of installation have created this issue?
    Originally I installed in this order:

    ARDM730
    LMAV730
    SODM730

    Generally speaking, install order can certainly affect things.

    Remember to run the custom office utilities to update customized panels.
