New Sage 100 prospect - for project costing and scheduling We have a good opportunity for a new Sage CRM/Sage 100 sale for which JobOps would be a key component. The client sells media center rooms in which they do design, build assemblies, like server racks, and then send installers on-site to build out the rooms. This all goes on one invoice. It looks like a sales order with tickets for each main task will fit. A big key for them is scheduling time for employees assigned to various activities in work tickets and then getting a good visual representation of a schedule for each employee. Field Service provides the schedule they want but unless I'm missing something, service tickets don't really fit the need for the breakdown of the projects into numerous work tickets. Anyone have JobOps in similar environment that could offer some tips? 30 user system at stake.

Could you set the employee up as an activity code or a schedule group to use Scheduling

They will have several work tickets per each project that will involve labor activities like ""pick material"", ""assembly"", ""test"" and ""package"". The same person doesn't always do the same activity. The activity ""assign to"" field seems to be a logical selection but there are limits to how many people can be assigned. And there is not much visibility to the field. Having the person be an activity and/or resource would be useful for scheduling. I am struggling with that concept.

I'm a little rusty but I think part of the problem is there is nothing 'above a job' in jobops like a project. For example, in Epicor you can create a project, and then create as many jobs broken down into phases and link them to the project. If you do decide to pursue this, for you and the clients sanity (and to avoid lawyers) I strongly recommend you do a paid proof of concept with some percentage refund if they move forward with the project. You don't want to sign a $100k+ project to find 35 to 50% into it, you hit an unexpected roadblock and have a disaster on your hands. If for some reason you hit a brick wall, let me know and maybe we can work out some joint deal using Epicor.

If the work ticket class is item or line based with the scheduling method set to Technician, you can create the tickets in SO entry (many per sales order) and then schedule them in the dispatch board.

@LisaDion That might work! @MarkChinsky - good thought. they are evaluating a couple of solutions. I believe this will be a pretty good if the technician time can be displayed to their satisfaction.
