    Is it possible to add and activate a module like Job Cost in test company so the user that doesn't currently subscribe to it can test it?   Sage used to let a module be installed and active for several days and then the module became inactive.  Is that still the case?  I haven't tried it in several years.

    To answer your direct question, yes I believe that is still possible.  When running the server install, if you choose an unlicensed module, there is a pop-up warning to not activate it in Live company codes.  (I don't know if there are any Job Cost specifics to be concerned about).

    Alternative idea:

    We all know uninstalling a module is a pain, so last year when a Premium client (with many enhancements) wanted to test PM I just gave them a folder copy of my Standard MAS90 of the same version they were on, using PMZ data, with a manually created shortcut for logging in.  This allowed them to test the module / transaction patterns, without affecting their Live system.

    yes.  We frequently have clients that want to do a Proof Of Concept in a backup copy of their company, before they proceed with the subscription.  I will say while trying to add BOM for a client this month, we hit a few snags.  The BOM Module was not exposed as available to install.  I had to work with Nathan Shaw at Sage to edit a registry where it "thought" the BOM Module was already installed... it was not.  In their case, they have to move to the Complete Bundle at $13K year, so a Proof of Concept is necessary.  It will give them 45-days for testing in their backup company.

    Thanks @Madeline Stefanou !  After your and Kevin's comments I am going to avoid installing a non-subscribed module on the production installation.  Using the end user keys I installed the modules including the "new" test module on my laptop then copied the mas90 folder to their server and created a shortcut.  Safer this way!

    This is probably nothing new to the group here, but what I am using is Hyper-V VMs. I spin one up on an external solid state drive and install Sage using a client's keys. Then I can test away without affecting any other system.
