New module keys issue: We ordered a new module for one of our clients the other day, and when we got the keys to put in the system, it locked us out of MAS 200. I was able to get the old keys back in with $ACTPVX.BAT, but it was still a minor inconvenience. Call to support revealed that the new system has ""issues"" generating valid keys, and that they have received quite a few calls in the past few weeks about invalid keys. #doh #shouldhavetestedfirst

For the past two clients that have purchased modules (since Atlas). sales has sent an extra e-mail telling me to ignore the system generated keys and to use the key information included in the second e-mail. I would really hate to in the sales department right now. Takes over a week to get a quote (if they can locate someone who knows how to price). They have to MAIL the invoice. It is just an overall sad situation. The good news is that there is no where to go but up.........right??????

I suppose we could be working for HT..

BTW we just asked for a quote for Custom Office for a customer who has had MAS since the 90s and was finally convinced they need it, and were told that anyone with more than 5 users who doesn't have it can now get it for free. You might want to grab that up for any of your customers in that situation before Pascal finds out about it and closes the loophole.

Can you get us some more details on this ""free"" VI module? Of course, I am assuming that Sage will still want their maintenance.

It is Custom Office, not VI. The new user pricing says you get Custom Office when you get to 5 users, and apparently at least as of yesterday that was being applied to existing customers. This info has a taillight warranty, YMMV.

Oops, my bad! Eyes are getting tired. Last week, I asked for a quote for a upgrade from three to five user small business plus Custom Office. The quote from Atlas came back (finally) with CO being no charged. Naturally, I think this is a big Atlas screw up so I am pressing the client to upgrade this month before Sage realizes that they screwed up!

I'll confirm the rumor about Custom Office. We had a client request it two weeks ago, and they got it for free.

Did they have to pay maintenance?

  • 11.  RE: New module keys issue: We ordered a new module for

No maintenance required. I think they just added it in and generated new keys.

We found this out when a customer requested Custom Office - did anyone notice this announced by Sage? Where?

@JeffSchwenk I talked to my CAM yesterday about additional users for a customer and I got a quote a few hours later surprisingly. I haven't converted it to an order yet or tried the keys but I can hardly wait!

Wonder what the big deal is. Susie J. still hasn't fessed up to this ""secret"" promotion. I guess tomorrow is another day.

Susie's been out in the sun too long - posted - http://community.90minds.com/2012/03/22/custom-office-now-free-for-all-sage-100-formerly-sage-erp-mas-90-5-user-sites/

And did I get this explanation correct? It is true that Custom Office has been an included component of Sage ERP MAS 90 and MAS 200 (5+ user purchases) for quite some time. However there was a time back when dinosaurs ruled the earth and live Q&A was included in Sage webcasts when the purchase of Custom Office was briefly an option. And users who purchased 3 user or less bundles had to specifically shell out for Custom Office. Not all users paid for Custom Office. The Sage policy was that those users who hadn't paid and subsequently upgraded had to purchase Custom Office. THAT'S what's changed- according to reports from the field you no longer have to purchase Custom Office separately if you're above 5 users and had not previously acquired a license for CO previously. Trust us this is a change in policy.

    Posted 03-22-2012 05:08
All I did was send her a note with the names of clients that had had five users or higher and asked her how to get CO for them.............

  • 22.  RE: New module keys issue: We ordered a new module for

    Posted 03-22-2012 05:13
@JeffSchwenk Is my paragraph above accurately explaining how some users may not already own Custom Office?

  • 23.  RE: New module keys issue: We ordered a new module for

    Posted 03-22-2012 05:46
Yes. Some of my early 5 + sales (in 2000) were without CO. All owners of MAS prior to CO release were not required to purchase it either.

  • 24.  RE: New module keys issue: We ordered a new module for

    Posted 03-22-2012 05:48
But they DID have to buy it if they wanted it later - even if they were at 5 users. And it was never free - they just added the price into the 5-user bundle.

  • 25.  RE: New module keys issue: We ordered a new module for

    Posted 03-22-2012 06:08
@WayneSchulz - the only problem I see with publishing it is that Sage has not officially announced it and Susie told us it was something Atlas currently does, which means it may be an accidental loophole that gets closed once upper management realizes it is there.

I won't name names if Sage calls. And I think I posted it as a ymmv. In my opinion we have to be working to inform our customers about this stuff or what value do we add?
