I think @PhilMcIntosh has the right answer. I could easily see that one happening. I could also see them trying to force users to Sage Intelligence for reporting to get additional users. Or to force some major function to only exist if using Sage CRM so you must have both Sage 100 users and Sage CRM users. Both of these would be increasing the functionality for the customer and making it better for them (while increasing sales for CRM and Sage Intelligence).
