Best known as Stanley Hudson on The Office, Leslie delivers the opening keynote:
Steady As She Goes: Why the Sage 100 Progress Bar Completion Percent Is Still Wrong After Forty Years of Development
Leslie explores the patience required to watch a post-installation merge progress bar jump from 12% to 99% in three seconds, then remain at 99% for another three hours. He will explain why the progress bar is not a measure of time, but a test of character.
In honor of his character, Leslie will be available for crossword puzzle-signing immediately following the session.
Session Highlights:
- Workstation Setup: A Guided Meditation - Facilitators walk you through a clean install of Sage 100 on a new workstation while maintaining a calm, regulated breathing pattern. The session includes a module on clairvoyance, as installers are expected to know - at setup time - whether this user will eventually need MICR fonts, barcode fonts, eFiling components, a full Crystal Reports or just Crystal Reports Runtime and whether Sage Intelligence needs be registered to the workstation. Participants who correctly anticipate all future requirements on the first attempt will be recognized during the Closing Ceremony, though historically this award has never been given.
- Paperless Office: 25 Years Later - A retrospective on going paperless, with printed handouts provided.
- It Isn't Funny Now, Is It? - The Frustration of Increasing Font Size in Sage 100 - A decade ago, you laughed when clients called to complain they couldn't read the screen. Now you're the one squinting at a Sales Order entry grid wondering if that says 1,000 or 10,000. This session explores the cruel irony of aging alongside software that still resists displaying in anything larger than "tiny." Topics include: why changing Windows scaling breaks half the interface, why some grids respect your font settings and others simply refuse.
Special Appearance: Gerald Whitmore
Meet the original developer credited with the error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Gerald will discuss a message that has appeared on more screens than any Sage 100 dialog in history, yet has never once helped anyone identify the actual problem. Autographed screenshots available - one per attendee.
Evening Entertainment: Status Quo Live
Status Quo found a three-chord rhythm that worked in the 1960s and have seen no reason to update it since. The evening will close with a full-room singalong of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." Lyrics will be displayed using a legacy Crystal Reports viewer. To avoid "blue screen" errors the font size may vary.
Registration
Registration is limited to those who can locate their original installation serial numbers. Registrations submitted via the current Partner Portal will be routed to Sage Intacct onboarding and cannot be recovered.
Early registrations will include a limited-edition Hanna-Barbera cartoon print.
