  • 1.  Negative Adjustments in Version 2024 (!)

    Posted 09-25-2024 08:23

Has anyone stumbled across the fact that negative inventory item adjustments (not issues - adjustments) can be processed in Version 2024??  I was showing a new client how negative adjustments are not allowed, and oops!  it went through.  I then tested it on my v2024 install and it went through there as well.

If you have, has Sage confirmed that this is a defect or "working as designed"?  "What's New" does not address this, and online Help still states that negative adjustments will not be accepted.

If no one has worked through this yet, I'll call Sage.

I was NOT aware of this either, but I tested in version 2023 and it allows it there as well. I have not checked the what's new for 2023 yet though. I did test in version 2022 and it does not allow you to put in a negative completion entry.

I have always used negative inventory adjustments to correct average cost.  If an average cost item with 0 or less on hand gets shipped then the average costs gets screwed up.  Later if a PO is received and there is positive inventory the average cost is stilled incorrect.  To correct I enter a negative inventory adjustment to get the on hand inventory to 0.  Then use a positive adjustment to add the correct on hand inventory on hand.  I have been entering negative inventory adjustments for many years...

I should have worded this differently:  Version 2024 allows you to adjust inventory INTO the negative.  So if you have 0 on hand, it allows you to enter a negative quantity of 1, for instance, and then your quantity on hand is minus 1.  This is new.  I'll be calling Sage and reporting back!

Update:  This has been reported as defect #117399.  It affects all versions from v2022 PU6 and forward (although it may have been fixed in one PU and reinstated in another - I haven't tested them all!).  Will advise when it is fixed.

Do you know if it's related to this - Inventory Adjustments allow overdistribution of quantity with PM program activated

@Wayne Schulz not in this case, as PM is not activated for any companies.
