Sage 100

Need an enhancement for shipping data entry, item packaging. v2014 advanced - Implementing Highjump / True Commerce EDI... Trading partners are Amazon, Macy's (Federated), and Bonton to start. To transmit shipping data to True Commerce, the Sage 100 shipping data entry, Item Packaging procedure is required (pick and pack). For small orders, entering the packaging information is simple and can be done manually. However, some orders can be 100, 200, or more line items. Manually entering packaging information for these could take all day... a huge waste of resources. We need a way to automate the item packing procedure. Does anyone know of an existing enhancement?

No, not a bar code solution. A way to automate the item packaging portion of shipping data entry. For example, A customer orders 50 sweaters, 60 umbrellas, and 100 gloves. We have 2 size boxes, large and medium. Based on this information we determine we need 5 boxes: 25 sweaters in one large box, 25 sweaters in another large box, 30 umbrellas in one medium box and 30 umbrellas in another medium box, and 60 gloves in one large box. This order wouldn't be too bad to do manually but if you have a 300 line order it would be a nightmare.

I have a client who is looking into doing such a thing - he is planning on exporting the info, calculating the packaging, and importing back in. He's doing his own programming based on the volume of the items. If you don't come up with anything else, I'm sure he'd talk to you.

With TrueCommerce EDI you can set up casepacks and they have a shipping automation button that autopacks the order.

@BethBowers That is a good option worth considering. I will let you know if we decide to go that route. If so I may take you up on having a talk with your client. What version is your client on? I see True Commerce has added some auto pick and pack features in this version but I don't see them as flexible enough to use in this situation..

@KerryEsser Thanks for the info. Yes , I see that you can set up templates for pick and pack and then click the auto-populate. That looks great for businesses with simple pick and pack rules but this one is more complex. Great information as it could be valuable for other TC users I have.

@DougHiggs - client is currently on 4.5 and will be moving to 2014 soon. Soon-ish. Maybe yet this year. :-)
