My Semi-retirement / CLA Job Posting

  • 1.  My Semi-retirement / CLA Job Posting

    Posted 10-15-2024 12:46

I've decided to start easing into retirement.  My last day as a Sage 100 consultant is 11/1/2024.  Starting 11/4/2024 I'll be working 3 days per week at a small flooring store that's about 3 blocks from my house.  I'm looking forward to the change.

The assistance I've gotten from this group over the years has been invaluable.  Thank you to all of you!

As a result, CLA is looking for a Sage 100 Technical/Consulting Project Manager.  Here is a link to more info on the opportunity in case any of you are interested in making a change as well.  Sage 100 - Technical/Consulting Project Manager

    Best wishes to all!

Mary Jo - best wishes! It has been great having you in the group and at our meetings! I must admit to being in disbelief that you (or anyone ) would want to leave this fascinating world of Sage 100.

Just think of what you're missing.

The 32-bit vs 64-bit show is about to start and I'm sure there will be more opportunity for you to fix a publisher bug or two.

And if you can't wait until the main event, Sage Connect has just fired up the marketing engines and you could spend more non-billable time in your day talking to confused customers who are asking "but how does the customer make a payment again"  and explaining why there will be a consulting charge to setup the "Free" tool that Sage "gave" them.... and last but not least it's always sad to see another experienced Sage 100 consultant who knows the difference between Sage 100 and Sage 100 Contractor leave ... because so far as I can tell the customers don't know (and I'm unsure the publisher does either ).

PS - And don't say where you heard this but if they haven't already I bet they'll bring back the "migrate to subscription from perpetual" at zero additional fees which was always a favorite of mine only because (a) publisher said it was "never coming back" and (b) that mysterious credit seems to just hang around out there somewhere on the cloud.

    Best of luck!

Fun is one word for it :)  It used to be fun.  I met a lot of good people of the years and learned a lot.  All in all, I would say it was a good career.

Congrats Mary Jo! It will be good to be focused on matching grout color to tiles instead of this stuff you've been doing for the last X years.

Enjoy retirement @Mary Jo Krueger! When it's my turn, I plan to spend as much time outdoors as possible and not staring at a computer screen many hours/day.

Thanks a lot, Alnoor.  I hadn't thought of that "problem."  I'm a very particular person and have been called matchy matchy often.  This grout thing will probably drive me nuts.  I think it'll be a better nuts than the nuts I am now.  Best wishes.

Congratulations @Mary Jo Krueger on your career change and semi-retirement!  Thank you for the many contributions you have made to 90 Minds.

It's great that you will be working part time in an industry completely different than software consulting.  I aspire to do the same thing someday.

I have a friend that worked long hours in accounting his entire career.  He retired a few years ago and now works 3-4 hours a day a couple of days a week at Home Depot.  He loves it!
