Odd thought - except for the groups -- which admittedly are important -- can most of this be duplicated on a Facebook group?
The biggest problem I see is that many companies block Facebook - but when you think about the platform:
- It's arguably always going to be free
- There is a real time instant messenger -- free and with multi-platform
- We usually check it daily (or more)
- The groups can be set to private
- There is search in the group
- You can email into the group using a specific address
- You can get email alerts for new posts/replies
Downside:
- Businesses block Facebook and it's seen as a timewaster (though that is starting to go away)
- You will probably not be logging into FB while at a clients - for the above reason
- The group feature/access is not Facebook's primary focus and it could go away.
Still --- I get a creepy feeling about both Socialcast and Yammer. As if they're now in the mode of servicing the Fortune 500 and hitching our wagon to their cart is probably only going to be both expensive and long term disappointing unless we're bringing in 500+ users licenses
This is just my gut feel. Anyone else?
