Not sure why more people aren't trying this. $30 for a five user license for Adobe MICR fonts. Alignment of the MICR printing is critical. There are plastic templates available for this. I've even seen the blank check stock have alignment features so you don't need the template. Yes, security can be touchy, but there are ways to mitigate those concerns. A decent quality laser printer is required. With blank stock, you no longer have to reprint the entire run if the checks jam. I run PR for one client on Thursdays and e-mail a PDF of the checks. They print to blank stock Friday morning. In two years since I've done this, never have had an issue.
