Sage 100

My client just asked for a report to show sales by state in the format of a map. Has anyone seen or done this with Crystal Reports or other reporting tool

I'm pretty sure I've seen a demo of that using Sage Intelligence but you have to be on the latest version of Excel.

Tableau makes nice maps. DataSelf (http://www.dataself.com/) uses Tableau, and Joni probably already has that report developed for you.

@RobertWhite if you are running Office 2013, take a look at the office applet called 'Geographic Heat Map'. The attached screen shot comes from an report example in Excel created by BizNet showing off the power of their new Desktop Edition and new Sage 100 data connectors. I would use something like this with either an dataset coming from an ODBC query, use the DSD SQL Mirror if the customers dataset is large, or look at BizNet and their Sage 100 connector to make this kind of thing dynamic. You can also export the data and use google maps or bing maps

Did this same report, years ago, In Crystal. Crystal Reports - make sure you have installed all the options. Then find the sample of this report after opening Crystal, on the left side go to Sample Reports, then General Business, scroll down and you'll find a report titled Sales with Geographic map to see what it does. You'll need to have a group by geography then use the insert map feature in Crystal.
