My boss seems to think there is a canned report in

My boss seems to think there is a canned report inside Sage which shows the orders entered today, which includes the profit margin I have scoured everywhere I can think and do not see such a report. What am I missing? This seems fairly simplistic.

Sales Order Quote History report is close but omits cost. I must be overlooking something very easy/simple.

This is what keeps us in business - creating this report for Sage that should have already existed.

Maybe thinking of the SO gross profit journal, even though that's based on invoiced today and not necessarily ordered today? I've created a BIE view to display daily orders and you can do a calculated field for profit margin.

Daily Sales Order recap has this, but it's not a print on demand.

    Your boss is too demanding!

Why not just link CI_Item to the Sales Order Quote History report and use StandardUnitCost. It's not like you could use any of the cost values that aren't known until you actually ship, right?

Oh, you mean like a ""bookings Report""? Yes, this is something that Sage needs to add to their ""quick wins"" for their Product Updates. There are logs of factors to consider, including what cost to utilize.

I think @DanBurleson is correct... in general, the costs are not fixed until the time of shipment. This is because of the various costing schemes, any of the tier costing depends on the tier selected, average and last cost can change with each receipt... When I have needed this, I have had to either write my own or adapt one of the canned reports

I would think LAST cost would be the FIRST place to start. And use the word ESTIMATED in the gross margin column...

Great feedback - thanks! Sage definitely does some computation of GP in the SO entry since there is an option to flag if the line is below a user adjustable profit margin. Maybe Sage is using the last cost.

The crystal report I posted prompts for the cost from CI_item you wish to use for the report. avg, last, std. best you can do when estimating your true cost of a sales order unless you are pre-allocating a lot.
