    HI All,

I want to be sure my thinking is correct on this.  The client currently has the Sage install and the application server on the SQL server.   IT wants it moved off of there, which is a great idea.  I have moved Premium many times but in all the cases, it was also on a different SQL server.    Here is the high level steps I would believe:

    • Shut down the existing app server
    • Backup all databases
    • Install Sage to the new application server, pointing it to the existing SQL server.  Let it merge the system databases
    • Copy over the MAS90 folder from the current server to the new server (use the Home folder from the "new" install.

Anything I am not thinking of?  @Carmen Cruz ??

It would be easier to have the SQL service moved.  Then you just use the SQL settings utility to change where Sage looks for the SQL databases.

Carmen might have a shortcut, but I'd do a Sage 100 server install / migration, using a temp SQL server, then redirect the new Sage install to point at the old SQL instance.  You need to run the migration somehow, so all the non-SQL components of the system (MAS90 folder stuff) gets copied over to the new server.
