More information around Sage's Joe Langner departing. Sounds like he will be around for another few months. First time I remember someone staying around that long... http://www.accountingtoday.com/accounting-technology/news/sage-mid-market-gm-joe-langner-to-leacve73393-1.html?tech

I stopped by Sage today as long as I had already made the long trek to Irvine. Rob Larsh introduced me to a number of people, gave me a lead (Hey, they're giving away leads, if you visit the office!) and gave an impromptu tour, including upstairs where the ""executives"" are. (There's a wall separating them from the unwashed, and they have larger cubes!) And there was Joe Langner alone working - undoubtedly updating his resume. Rob rushed me away before I could say hi.

Does it say something about the perceived importance of that role when it can be filled for two months by a lame duck ?

Pascal has been invisible for three years. At least Joe was front and center. Of course, he got fired and Pascal is still in the corner cubicle, sitting pretty. It's a rather nice cubicle though so I can see why he wants to keep it. I guess the point of my post is ... much like our government, I would prefer lame ducks over the next round of executives looking to shake things up by ""growing"" ""organic"" ""revenue"" (I couldn't figure out which word needed sarcastic air quotes so I did all three) by gouging the customers and slashing at the partners' livelihoods.

Sue Swenson was invisible too and I think in many ways she got the job done -- widely believed to be selling off the medical division without losing Sage's shirt in the process. Whether execs are front and center -- Laurie Schultz -- or in the background -- Sue Swenson -- Sage seems to churn through them at a pretty good clip.
