Sage 100

We have a customer going Live with InSynch, and they asked for an alert when it's not running.  Of course, SY_Console is not in SQL / MAS_SYSTEM... and an attempt to create a Providex DSN failed.
Has anyone set up this kind of query / alert before (on a Premium system)?

I think the customer plans to run InSynch on a workstation, so checking running server processes isn't necessarily an option either, but I could probably push them to run it on the server if that made a difference..

We had Bob Richter at ROI to write a value to a log file when issues arose then used used Sage Alerts to monitor this table and email out alerts. It checks every 5 minutes. Works great. If the system crashes, then of course, it would not be able to write to a file, so we also had IT create a server system task that monitors the application log for application errors where it also sends an alert.

I think the main reason for the request is to deal with server reboots and having a reminder to start the program, so relying on a log (custom or Windows) won't cover that case.

I believe that's possible too. Just ask Bob. There's an option on the IS manager where you can start it automatically. You'll need to have the workstation log into the desktop though. That can be done with a registry hack.
