  • 1.  Missing Report Designer license

    I don't know if anyone's posted this before, but I keep running into clients who have been on Sage forever, never used SI before, and when we license them, the Report Designer license is missing.  These are almost always clients whose license is based on their old 130xxxxx customer number rather than the new 400xxx customer number, so it's from when Report Designer was something you had to purchase (prior to it being added in as a perk of going subscription).

    If that happens, you actually have to contact the Order dept and order the Report Designer (for free) to get them to generate the appropriate information.  Don't bother trying the Sales Dept or Support (although Support kindly shunted my request over to Orders, bless his heart).

    I've definitely seen this on and off. And your theory of the cause sounds about right. I wonder what happens when the next round of management changes happen and suddenly people at Sage start forgetting about this process and entitlement. It would not surprise me if Sage abruptly changed policies one day.

    For the past year, I have focused on encouraging clients to start using SI.  And nearly every time, the license is missing.  I then have to request the information.  It should not be this difficult.

    I have to contact Sage for the licensing every time a user decides to start using SI.  Unless I know for certain that they never want to use it, I've been getting them licensed during their upgrades.
