  • 1.  Membership Comte Agenda for tomorrow - April 17

    Posted 04-16-2025 19:34

Attached is our agenda for tomorrow's 1-hour meeting. It's a lot, so please read this and think ahead about what you can add to our considerations.

There are several items marked for discussion, review, or brainstorm. Please think about them ahead of time.

In particular, I'd like you to think about how you would rank the importance of the 9 "key consideration areas." These are all tough considerations, and we need to be clear about which are more important, even though the others won't be ignored.

Finally, I also attached Co-hesion's results from their facilitated MOTM roundtables. This member feedback should be part of our thinking as work through our challenges tomorrow and beyond.

    See you tomorrow!

    Jerry

Without any intent for changing the agenda for the meeting, please be aware that our Board Retreat is 5/7-10.   We have several major themes for the retreat which the committee should be aware of as we create a vision for the upcoming year and next 2-5 years.  The three major themes are:

    • Strategic alignment between our governance structure and the 90 Minds mission for the future.
      • Ensuring a clear definition of the Committees, the role of the Board Liaison and creating Committee Charters which outline the goals, objectives, milestones and metrics for each committee.
    • Innovation and Future Planning - Growth and Membership
      • This is the area where results from the roundtables (Cohesion report)  and the interpretations from this Committee will be very helpful.  For example, there were several suggestions of "products and services" which could be offered by 90 Minds such as support services, verification of third party product all the way to the acquisition of Sage 100.  Specifically, should 90 Minds offer services directly to end users?
    • Collaborate, Connect, and Grow - New Ideas for a New Year!

      • This is very much in alignment with item 5 of the agenda.  However, membership growth does not need to be limited to the renewal season!

The Membership committee is responsible for managing and enhancing the 90 Mind's membership base. The committee focuses on activities that attract new members, retain existing ones, and ensure that members find value in their 90 Minds affiliation.

The specific duties of a membership committee can vary, but common responsibilities include:

    1. Member Recruitment: Developing strategies to attract new members to the association. This may involve marketing campaigns, outreach efforts, and collaborating with other committees or teams within the association.
    2. Membership Retention: Implementing initiatives to retain current members. This could include organizing events, creating networking opportunities, or providing exclusive benefits to members.
    3. Onboarding Processes: Creating and managing processes to effectively onboard new members, helping them understand the benefits of membership, providing orientation materials, and facilitating their integration into the association community.
    4. Membership Renewal: Overseeing the renewal process for existing members. This may involve sending reminders, communicating the value of membership, and addressing any concerns or issues that members may have.
    5. Member Communication: Developing and maintaining communication channels to keep members informed about association activities, benefits, and opportunities. This includes newsletters, emails, and social media communication.
    6. Member Feedback: Collecting and analyzing feedback from members to understand their needs, concerns, and preferences. This information can be used to improve member services and tailor association offerings.
    7. Diversity and Inclusion: Ensuring that the 90 Mind's membership reflects diversity and is inclusive. The committee may work on initiatives to attract a broad range of professionals and create an inclusive environment.
    8. Member Recognition: Developing programs to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of members. This could include awards, acknowledgment in publications, or special events.

The Membership committee plays a crucial role in creating a vibrant and engaged community within 90 Minds, fostering a sense of belonging and providing tangible benefits to its members.

    Thanks, Gary!

This very much complements not only my "vision" for this Committee but the daunting task before us. What has worked for 90 Minds in the past is clearly not enough to move us forward, and that's what this Merry Band of Minds will figure out.

One of the "truths" hidden between the lines is that our central problems are tough enough that Committee members should plan on working some outside of our 1 hour monthly sessions. I'd like to air everybody's thoughts about that and the other items on our list.
