Meeting Of The Minds 2014: LOCATION Proposed location of the 2014 meeting (tentative 2/21 and 2/22) I think San Diego works well due to proximity to Sage vendors and for weather - which while not hot is warmer than we have back east and in other areas of the country. The last two years we had it at Embassy Suites PROS: Free breakfast Free happy hour Close to DSD offices Walking distance to mall and restaurant Shuttle van made available CONS: Kids running everywhere Kids running everywhere Question: 1. Do we return to San Diego? 2. If not San Diego - where? 3. Do we return to Embassy Suites My vote is yes on San Diego (lets schedule dinner earlier for us East Coasters) and I'm not particular about returning to Embassy or finding another location. I think that the free breakfast at Embassy was nice (if we have to pay for that for each of our members I bet they get us $25/person in the AM to setup some type of buffet). Happy hour at night was also a big plus cost wise. Kids running up and down the hallways is just a problem you have with any large affordable hotel -- though it was definitely a bigger problem last year than the first year we were there.

There were a couple of major kid related events going on that weekend. I think there was a kid hockey tournament going on for one.

In my very initial look, A comparable hotel will probably be 25% more. But the location will be great. More things to do

I hadn't really noticed the kids ... I say we keep things as is for location.

As @RobertWood said, there was a hockey tournament that weekend. It was fairly quiet on Saturday until they returned and started playing with the elevators but I am okay with SD for the location.

Free hot breakfast and happy hour are major drawing points for the hotel that we were at. That's got to save us probably $50-$100/member /day over if we tried to do it ourselves and pay for breakfast and evening open bar.

There is an Embassy Suite Downtown that I can look into. It is maybe 25% more But it is downtown. Right next to the waterfront!!

I know some Embassy's give you free breakfast and drink tickets. Start the day with a delicious complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast, offering omelets and pancakes. Network at the Evening Reception* and enjoy complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the tropical atrium, among lush plants, koi fish and sparkling water features. *Service of alcohol subject to state and local laws. Must be of legal drinking age.

I do like Embassy Suites. A lot of nice extra's. Just hate being charged for Internet though. I DO THINK we should post a ""Save the Date"" message for the inner circle members so they can start looking at airfares, etc. I am sure that we can get things hammered out by mid November which will give us a three month window to promote the event to the Fellows and maybe the associates. Jim, want about the Loews Coronado? My daughter is attending a conference there next week. Room is ""only"" $250 per night. http://www.loewshotels.com/en/Coronado-Bay-Resort?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Brand&utm_content=Name&utm_term=loews%20coronado

I will look into the downtown Embassy Suite. It is a AWESOME location right next to the waterfront.

Loews doesn't have free breakfast or happy hour. And my guess is that it cost 50% more than the downtown Embassy suite

Rates don't look too bad. Comparable to Summit. But meals are not included.
