  • 1.  Medical Insurance Effective Date

    Is the Effective Date on the Benefits Tab in Employee Setup just informational or does it apply to a specific Deduction Code?  In my testing it just appears to be informational and does not effect payroll data entry and automatic deductions.  Is Sage planning to do anything with this field.

    While I've never looked, I was thinking it was for ACA Reporting?
    or just Informational.

    Team,

     

    I was able to create a custom office script that looked at this medical effective date field and compare to the module date. If the date was after the module date, then the deduction code would be deleted (zeroed out).

     

    Once I presented this to the client; of course, they wanted even more. We then added a UDF on each deduction code for eligibly date. The script works great on all the deductions codes except 401K/pension type deduction codes. 

     

    I think we can handle that in the future too, but I would have to change from an post column event on the deduction code to a script that loops thru. Nevertheless, the client was thrilled with the UDF of eligibly date and removing "ineligible"  deductions that were prior to the period date.
