Medical Billing integration I have a prospect that is in need of a medical billing solution with the requirement of Sage 100 ERP to be fully integrated as the back office accounting solution. I have been researching various medical billing solutions for a potential Sage link, no luck yet. I also contacted Sage. Everything I found so far is a custom VI job. This is what needed. 1) Bi-directional interface. 2. Data to be imported/exported: Billing information (Such as: Customer Number, Invoice Date, Invoice Amount, Sales Account) Possibly payment information (Customer Number, Payment type, payment date, Payment Amount, Invoice applied to) Obviously I can use VI and design something to integrate, but thought I would see if anyone has information on medical billing software that is already integrated with Sage 100.

Does their medical software suck so badly that they need to duplicate in MAS? When I first started supporting MAS (damn, Sage 100 ERP) I had quite a few clients on Medical Manager (which is what Sage eventually purchased - small world) and we only integrated the AR via GL. It had a nice setup in it for associating the GL accounts to the billing items in MM.

I support numerous medical offices also and none of them require a bi-directional interface. Several do VI uploade to process AP patient refunds and to import the GL JE at month end.

David, I will echo Beth and Jeff's comments. We work with a number of practices. Interfaces to MAS generally fall into 3 categories: 1) AP to pay patient refunds. We pull vendors and payment data from the same file with 2 VI Jobs. 2) GL for Patient Billings. Single import into GL. 3) BR for Patient Receipt Deposits. Since customer accounts are managed elsewhere, this is a summary entry for bank rec purposes only. The only other interface I have seen is to pull GL accounts along with relate segments from MAS into the PM system. However, since most practices so infrequently change thier revenue accounts, this is rarely a challenge. We try to discourage this where possible as the Account is usually composed from individual compontent (segments) tied to location, Dr., specialty, etc. Happy hunting.

I work with a medical billing company and currently they ""integrate"" via manual journal entries. In the future they will be bringing in invoices via BOI, but nothing is seamless. Their requirement was to get good medical billing software and worry about pushing data into Sage 100 later.

@DawnAnastasi - As it should be. Medical practices should focus on the business software first with integration to the back office as a secondary concern.

Thanks all - good advice. This question was brought to me and I have not really explored the reasons behind the request just yet. I will though.. Sometimes when you start asking those questions you find that things like bi-directional interface is not really necessary, More to the point, it sounds like no one has seen anything that has already been integrated with MAS90.

Stick with a 'Best of Breed' approach. Sage 100 for accounting, their choice of Practice Management solution which best fits their needs. Then tie them together with a pretty bow!
