Maximum size of Inventory Item Extended Description in 4.3? I'm guessing 255 but have not been able to find it listed in the old KB and do not keep 4.3 on my system. I see where the Sage 100 ERP 2013 help files list the current max as 4096 but do not think it was that many characters in the older 4.3 version?

The old file layout shows each record as having 50 characters, and a sequence number of 001-999. So, in theory....a whole lot more than 4096. The old CRYSTAL, however, had a limit on string fields of 255, and that may be what you're remembering. I think that was thru Crystal 8.5.

it is bigger. It is a memo style text field that can get very big. The data is broken into 50 character sequences.

In 4.3 the extended description was held in IM_03 with multiple records stored in 50 characters per record. The key contained a sequence number that was 3 characters long. which might mean you could store 999 x 50 characters or 49,950 characters. I don't know if that is really possible or not I can tell you that I have an old 3.71 version hanging around so I did a quick test and held keys down long enough to get WELL over 500 characters and it stored it
