    I have a number of clients recently that have been having issues in the Master Console screen. 

    They are getting the message, "This task is in user by another user. This task can only be viewed". (Standard and expected message if you try and open Inventory Setup Options if people are accessing inventory tasks)

    However, if you click on the "More Info" button, it does give a list of users that are preventing you from opening the screen or preforming the tasked. The challenge is the the users listed in the More Info are not showing in the Master Console. Some of these users are also now longer active in Sage and have been gone for years. (User marked inactive)

    Does anyone know where which tables these are pulling from?

    I have done the standard stuff of renaming the locks folders, SY_Workstation, and SY_Console.

    This client is on Standard V2024 64 Bit. But I have seen this happen a few of our 2024 clients.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    The file is in MAS_SYSTEM folder. It is called SY_lockFileInfo.m4t

    If you get all users out of Sage 100 and rename that file, it will be recreated the first time any user opens any task. 

    I always add a warning that there is another file with a similar name 
    SY_LockFile.m4t   DO NOT rename that file.

    @Michael Davis - it's the SY_LockFileInfo.M4T file and you can rename it and recreate using Reinitialize Data Files.

    So the SY_LockFileInfo had 503 records in it prior the re-init. (with no one in Sage), so hopefully that will resolve it. Will keep everyone updated.

    This task is in use by another user" Error in Sage 100 Master Console

    Issue:

    Users are receiving the error message "This task is in use by another user. This task can only be viewed" in the Sage 100 Master Console, even when no other users are actively using the system. The "More Info" button shows a list of users, some of whom are no longer active in Sage, that are supposedly preventing access. This issue has been observed in Sage 100 Standard V2024 64 Bit.

    Suggestions:

    • Rename the SY_lockFileInfo.m4t file. This file is located in the MAS_SYSTEM folder. Before renaming the file, ensure all users are logged out of Sage 100. After renaming, the file will be recreated when a user logs back in.

    • Do not rename the SY_LockFile.m4t file. This file is also located in the MAS_SYSTEM folder and has a similar name, but should not be altered.

    Resolution:

    Renaming the SY_lockFileInfo.m4t file appears to be the most promising solution. One user reported that this file contained over 500 records even when no one was logged into Sage, suggesting that clearing these records may resolve the issue.

    One small change that is probably not very important, is that the file is not recreated until a user launches a task after logging in. Very subtle difference, but I have watched the directory to make sure it gets created and have noticed that logging in to Sage 100 does not create the file but launching a task that would require a file/record to be locked triggers the recreation.

    I created another document which incorporates how to remove users who are active in Sage 100 and where you can't close them out through Master Console ( end session ) - I ran into this today with Cimcloud and documented how to a user who may show in Sage 100 via some type of third-party program. This is useful for those situations where you need to have everyone out of Sage 100 to perform maintenance.
