MAS v4.5 PU 4, WO and BOM. Have a BOM with five m

MAS v4.5 PU 4, WO and BOM. Have a BOM with five material lines on it. When a WO is created for it, only four material lines populate the materials tab. One specific item will not come over. We've rebuilt the sort fields, deleted the item and readded. Deleted and recreated the BOM. In fact, NO inventory item of that type will pull over. Very odd. Thoughts?

Yeah, you say any inventory item of ""that type""? Really Jeff, that's like one of our customers saying ""it's not working"" :) So, what type of inventory item is it?

Are there any other lines on the bill? Comments? Not sure it would still be a problem but just want to share about the time Alnoor helped me at Sage with a case where the lines after a comment with a ""P"" in the 26 th character would not pull into work order. Crazy!!

Item not appearing had an inactive bill created for it. Change the bill to active and the part would pull across. Must be an enhancement in v4.4 as items processed without issue in v4.3. Client SWEARS no change had been made...... A tip of the hat to @ThereseLogeais for the assist...........

Client just offered up that the part was a buy part but they had a inactive BOM set up for it. Will have to look for other instances where this is happening.....

This is a big problem now. When clients change items to buy after deciding to no longer make they want to make the BOM inactive. However for some unknown reason, Sage has changed the inactive logic that causes such an Item to no longer appear in any WO even though they should. This IS a bug, but they keep telling me it's a design. I told them it was designed by a pinhead!

It's a bug in the designer...

Any time code escapes into the wild, it is by ""design"". Whether they DESIRE to fix it is another issue. On this issue, I can see their point. But why did they pick this issue to fix and not the 1,000's of others that are more critical.....

Actually, this isn't a good fix at all. Many companies are moving to buying product they had originally manufactured internally and need a mechanism to retain the BOM information, but not have it display when running reports on Active BOMs. With this change to the software, they don't have an option. The BOM has to be active for the item to appear even though Procurement Type is obviously Buy.

Ditto on Deb's comments. I forgot that I had two 4.3 to 4.5 upgrades in the last 6 months which both ran into this issue. Maybe Obamacare will solve it?
