MAS 90 4.4 PU 8 - Client is reporting that a few FIFO tiers in the item costing table are being ignored during SO invoicing update. Tiers are from November. All the tiers from December have been completely used and the Jan., 2012 tables are being zeroed out now. Records in question do not look abnormal. I rebuilt the keys for that table, rebuilt the IM sort files. My next thought is to IM transact them out then back in with a slightly different date. Any other thoughts before I try that? TIA

Are you sure the tier dates are correct? Could they have been received as 11/2111 instead of 11/2011? Just a thought...

The dates appear correctly in the DFDM. Based on Therese's post, I took the investigation a step further and dumped the table into Excel. What this revealed is that there are values for these records in the CostCalcQtyCommitted and the CostCalcCostCommitted fields (which coincidentally, is very similar to the table IM_DataEntryCostCalcCommit.M4T that keeps popping up when updating physical inventory). The quantities committed field is zero. Running the rebuild sort utility for these records has no impact in clearing these values. Does anyone know of a utiliity (other than DFDM) that will clear these fields?

their Trial balance and valuation must be off too! I bet you need to run the utilities to fix the trial balance and this will probably fix the tiers to be able to be used. I am just guessing.

I had a similar problem back in November and Sage created a utility for me to clear the CostCalc files since they are not affected by the rebuild utilities. There are several patches IM-4xxx in Support that may fix this issue.

Actually, their trial balance and valuation were off last back in November so I ran the utilities to fix the out of balance. Now this. Will take a look at the IM utilities patches to see if any are relevant.

Jeff, I just worked on this the last few days on a 4.5 upgrade. Product 2 seems to fix randow FIFO layers though we had to run utilties to fix. What we had was all of the reports (Valuations, Valuation by Period and Inventory Trial Balance ) were not balancoing. Sage has a write up, here it is. Three utilites to run, then the Inventory Balancing Utility the Recalc Periods in Inventory Utilities. I have also notice that a RMA CM puts a OVERDIST REceipt Label with a postive qunatity on hand making the Valuation Report confusing, this is reported and Sage is working on a possible fix, the CM Layer should have a fix. If you need the exactl instructions for these utilities let me know.

Try these But I think they are under *Utl in SU8 Prior to our callback appointment I would like you to make 2 copies of the live company code. The 1st copy will be kept for a backup . The 2nd copy will be used to fix the data. Both companies will be used to confirm accuracy of the changes. You may use any company code that is not currently used in your MAS 90 or MAS 200 installation. Instructions for making copy of live company data 1.Expand Modules, Library Master, Main, and click Company Maintenance. 2.Select the desired company that the data will be copied to, or create a new company code. 3.Click Copy, and click Yes if prompted to save the company. 4.Select the source (Live Company Code) company (the company to be copied from). 5.Select All Modules Note: General Ledger cannot be deselected. The copy program will not allow any other module to be copied without General Ledger. 6.Click Proceed. Product Update 7 plus the IM4019-t Hotfix should be installed as soon as possible. It does not need to be installed to fix the data on the copy company. Before upgrading to this version, confirm compatibility with any 3rd party master developers of add-on products. oIf you are unsure about having add-on products go to Library Master\Reports and preview the Installed Modules Listing. oIf there is a Developer name other than Sage Software, Inc. they will need to be contacted for the product compatibility on that line. Product Update 7 and the IM4019-t Hotfix contain program changes to eliminate the issues that resulted in the data being incorrect. oThis only prevents issues going forward after they are installed. oIf these programs are not installed it is recommended that you continue running the IM_CommitCheckClear_utl utility to clear stranded values frequently.

Ron and everyone. The IM_CommitCheckClear_utl and IM_ClearCommitDataEntry_utl utilities cleared up the records. Will wait and see if these tiers disappear this afternoon. Thanks to all.

What versions are those utilities available in? I tried on 4.40.01 and they were not found.

Jeff do you have instructions on running those utils? I think some people were surprised Sage stuck them in the PU and just said ""call us if you need help"". Is this safe to run on a system where you aren't sure if there are problems - in other words should it become part of every upgrade?

Good Questions. I've asked Ron to post a response for you since he was the source of my information. I to wonder whether I should just run the utilities as part of my upgrade. One item of note, the client that was experiencing the trapped tiers was the only location where I ran the im balancing utilitiy. So I wonder if the balancing utility was the source of this latest issue.

Wayne, Depending on what you are trying to fix this may be multiple steps. I had random negative tiers that could not be fixed with a IA or a Negatier Adjutment, plus my Valuation and Inventory Trial Balance did not agree. That said if you are on 4.4.8, and 4.5.2 these steps will work. I recommend as always a backup company. First copy the IM_CommitCheckClear.utl and Im_ClearCommitDataEntry_utl from MAS90/Utilities to the MAS90/IM folder Before running this utility run negative tier adjustments and fix what tiers you can. The File - Run syzcon at the prompt type run ""IM_CommitCheck_Clear.utl"" this will create a textout file of inventory that is stranded. Then File - Run syzxon at the prompt type run ""IM_ClearCommitDataEntry.utl"" this clears all the stranded values in the IM_ItemWarehouse file, IM_ItemCost file and IM_DataEntryCostCalcCommit file. Then in inventory run remove Zero Quantity Tiers Then File - Ron *utl and run the IM Balance Quantity and Costing Utility Then in Inventory Utilities run IM Recalculate Item History. What I ended up with was Valauation equal Valauation by Period which equal Trial Balance and no Negative Tiers. Sage has informed me it is okay to run the Committ check utilities to montitor for any stranded tier though they beleive they have this fix. I should note one thing that was throwing us off is our customer does CM with RMA, into a Return Warehouse, the Return created a postive layer with a Tier label OVERDIST and no date. Confusing though the system does allow you to sell the layer. Sage is looking into this to see if we can get a date on the tier.

In case you don't know, there is now another inventory utiltiy to correct average cost problems called IM_AverageCost_utl.m4p available from Sage that should be in PU9. I just got it from them and it corrected the problems that ALL the other ones didn't correct for average cost.

@JeffSchwenk How do you launch those two utilities? I had done this awhile ago for a customer but can't find my notes.

Thanks @JeffSchwenk - I did find the instructions and the files to run it in the mas90\utility\ folder.
